It is a shame the first arc is the weakest as that basically cemented people who are still on the fence about the show to bow out before the going gets good again. Seeing social media comments like "show is boring" make me feel like an insane person.
The discourse around Andor has been insane. I’ve seen similar comments regarding the first arc. It’s a shame, because while the stuff with the bickering rebels isn’t the best, the first three episodes still features fantastic scenes with Mon and Dedra and Syril.
My whole family, wife, sons, granddaughters, daughters-in-law are STAR WARS fans. Despite its sad ending, we also love "Rogue One" and saw it multiple times. We started "Andor" season one and it felt heavy and dark. We knew it was a sort of prequel to "Rogue One" and it depressed us. Now, with the world the way it is, we are going to start over with Season One. I think we're prepared for it this time. Thank you for this superb article; it was extremely informative and helpful. By the way, I still believe in the Force. :)
Andor might be a hard sell for children. I remember my nephew didn't like Rogue One when it came out due to how it ended. Andor is definitely a show for adults. That isn't to say it's excessively violent, because it isn't, rather, it's themes are complex. I don't think Star Wars is inherently for children like many say (usually a cheap tactic to deflect criticism and tell people to "just turn their brain off".) Star Wars, at its best, was for everyone. Andor, though, is for a mature audience, but I think it only enhances the appreciation for the original trilogy.
A great write up, thanks for putting it together.
